I SURRENDER MY RIGHTS TO...

Revenge

You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. -- Matthew 5:38-39

Dignity

If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. -- Matthew 5:39

Justice

And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. -- Matthew 5:40

Freedom

If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. -- Matthew 5:41

Money

Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. -- Matthew 5:42

Hating Enemies

You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. -- Matthew 5:43-45

Recognition

Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honoured by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. -- Matthew 6:1-4

Unforgiveness

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. -- Matthew 6:14-15

Possessions & Necessities

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. -- Matthew 6:19-21

Worry

So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. -- Matthew 6:31-34

Pride

Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. -- Matthew 7:1-5

Everything

In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple. -- Luke 14:33
