James 2:14-26: Nehemiah Character Study

PERSONAL/BUSINESS EXAMPLES

BIBLE EXAMPLES

OPPORTUNITY SEEKING

I keep looking for different things I can do.

I try to see my problems as opportunities.

When I run into obstacles I see it as a chance to learn something new.

If an opportunity arises I act on it immediately.

Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. -- Ephesians 5:15-16
RISK TAKING & FAITH

When I start something I make every effort to reduce the risk of it failing.

I calculate the chances of success or failure before making a decision I know to be risky.

I am not afraid to take risk if I know that I have a good chance of succeeding.

I am willing to risk the loss of money to do something I know to be right.

Dig a well--and fall into it! Demolish an old wall--and be bitten by a snake! When working in a quarry, stones will fall and crush you! There is risk in each stroke of your axe! -- Ecclesiastes 10:8-9
WORK INTEGRITY & DISCIPLINE

When I am working on something, I regularly check on quality to make sure it is being maintained.

My work is better than other people's work.

I want to produce the best product to its type.

I want my business to be of higher quality than other businesses.

If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. To be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer losshe himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames. -- 1 Corinthians 3:12-15
PERSISTENCE

If I am faced with a problem, I try again and again to solve it.

When things are difficult I find it very hard to give up.

I do not ignore difficulties, I try to overcome them.

If one solution does not work, I try to find another.

To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. -- Romans 2:7
DILIGENCE & HARD WORK

I treat my own convenience as less important than getting the job done.

I am willing to work very hard for long hours in order to accomplish what I have said I would do.

I will do almost anything to finish a task on time.

If a job has to be completed, I am prepared to sacrifice my personal convenience in order to complete it.

He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment. -- Proverbs 12:11
INITIATIVE

I hate being in a position of having to do things.

I prefer to act before I am compelled to.

If I can see a problem coming in the future, I do something about it now rather than waiting until it comes.

I can see for myself what action needs to be taken, I do not depend upon others to tell me.

I do not like to wait until I have to take action I act before I am forced to.

Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. -- Luke 5:18-19
EFFICIENCY

I like to find ways of doing things less expensively than before.

I try to minimize the time it takes to do things.

I look out for ways of working more quickly.

I try to reduce costs.

The governors were accountable to three presidents (Daniel was one of them) so the king could administer the kingdom efficiently. -- Daniel 6:2
