The Internet is a wonderful means of communication. However, for some persons living in creative access countries it can be a dangerous to receive e-mail that mentions certain activities or organizations. A reminder that when you communicate with these persons it is important to screen your email and eliminate words or phrases that may alert unfriendly authorities. Scruples wants to be sensitive to these concerns so we are asking that you let us know how we can improve our performance in this area. One idea is to set up an e mail account in a friendly country where someone may receive e mail and forward it in written form or on diskette. Another idea is for someone to set up a free mail account for a person at Hotmail or Yahoo or other services that one can access using a secure Internet Browser. Please forward other ideas or suggestions you may have so we can share them with the group. If you are receiving this e-mail and feel your security may be compromised by it please contact us immediately and we will remove you from the list.

An Internet Search for the words "Business and Missions" turns up many references to Trade Missions and Diplomatic Missions, etc. However, to be safe we will refer to this Bulletin in the Subject Heading as the Scruples Bizetmiz Bulletin thus avoiding the use of the "M" word.

3. A Report on the Progress of Business and Missions in Creative Access Nations
In April I attended a Seminar on Business and Missions Initiatives to Creative Access Nations hosted by a Great Commission Company in a Creative Access Nation. The seminar was sponsored by the Center for Entrepreneurial and Economic Development (CEED). The topics included teaching on cultural transformation; Joseph as the Entrepreneur that saves the Prototype Mission (Israel); Success Factors in Business & Missions initiatives; Character Qualities for the Christian Entrepreneur and working models of Business as a means to missions.
I found the teaching on cultural transformation positively transforming! I plan to apply the analogy used in Hebrews 13:12-13 of the different altar that is outside of the camp to challenge Christians in the marketplace to give up their worldly business identity in exchange for a Christ-like kingdom identity.
The emphasis of the seminar was on the INTEGRATION of Business and Missions as the point of the arrow that will bring the gospel to many unreached peoples groups. It was balanced with the emphasis that there is a distinction in callings between Christian Service Callings and Business or Professional Callings. This distinction is important to make because it enables us to know which structures and rules need to be applied to be successful in business as well as in missions.
The stories and role models presented by Great Commission Companies and Nation Discipling Enterprises were inspiring. God is SO good! He is at work EVEN in business to bring the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Finally, the challenge is to have a heavenly vision (like Joseph) as we work out our earthly business affairs. This is an absolute MUST if we are going to answer Gods call and serve HIS purposes in business. What is your heavenly vision? I see an explosion of Great Commission Businesses penetrating the walls of darkness that surround many nations, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, blessing the people and planting indigenous congregations as a witness to the glory of God. Hallelujah!

5. Antioch Conference to include Business Track
August 27 - 30, 1998 This year's gathering will again take place at the beautiful Pointe
Hilton Resort at Squaw Peak in Phoenix, AZ. You can meet and network with others who are
excited about what local churches can do in world evangelization! Broaden your knowledge
about church planting among the unreached by participating in one of the people group
tracks. Network with churches and organizations that are focusing on the same or closely
related people groups. Antioch Network is a growing fellowship of local churches that are
interacting with the challenge to send church planting teams to unreached
peoples. Their site is (you guessed it!) <http://www.antiochnetwork.org> or write Antioch Network, 5060 N. 19th Avenue, Suite 312 Phoenix, AZ 85015 or Tel: 602.242.4414, fax: 602.242.0416, or write <AntiochNetwork@xc.org>. 6. More Business & Missions Links
I have discovered two more Internet Links to Articles of Interest for Business & Missions. The first is entitled "Using Business rather than Non-Profit Organizations for charity and Evangelism - Now and Beyond 2000" by Professor Harold J. Harder of Trinity Western University. The Second is "the History of the Basel Mission Trading Company" Both of these links offer current and historical examples of Business and Missions integration to serve the purpose of the Great Commission. You can reach these links through the Scruples Business & Missions Page at <www.scruples.org/bizetmiz/> Also available through the Bizetmiz Page are 7 Book titles for Tentmaking Resources including recent additions: "Business Power for Gods Purpose" by Heinz Suter, & Dr. Marco Gmur,.
